In Iyi village\, the people worship Mami Wata\, a powerful mermaid deity\, through their spiritual leader Mama Efe\, who serves as the intermediary between the divine and the people. Her daughter Zinwe and her protégé Prisca assist her in maintaining this matriarchal order.
