Twelfth Night

Ad Hoc Players present…

Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night

Unrequited love. Cross dressing. Mistaken identity. Drunken debauchery. Just like any other night in Illyria.

Twelfth Night is a fast-paced romantic comedy with several interwoven plots of romance, mistaken identities and practical jokes all set in the 70’s punk era. Separated from her twin brother Sebastian in a riot, Viola disguises herself as a boy, calls herself Cesario, and becomes a servant to the Duke Orsino. He sends her to woo the Countess Olivia on his behalf, but the Countess falls in love with Cesario. Meanwhile Olivia’s uncle, Sir Toby Belch, gets drunk with his friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek and they play a trick on Malvolio, Olivia’s steward. Eventually Sebastian turns up and causes even more confusion, chaos and comedy.

On learning she will be delayed by several days, they blackmail their eccentric friend, Lord Fancourt Babberley, to save their romantic plans and pose as Donna Lucia….and then Charley’s real Aunt arrives…

Perfectly Imperfect Women

Perfectly Imperfect Women

A Biographical Wonder Tale

This is a theatrical storytelling show with a dash of stand-up thrown in.

It’s universal and archetypal whilst also being personal. Danyah searches for a richer understanding of perfection and what it means to accept imperfection in order to connect more deeply to her female line.

The show examines the often complex relationship between mothers and daughters and the challenge of discovering you may have more in common with your female ancestors than you care to admit.

We take a look in the mirror of five generations of women in one family, beginning with Danyah’s Great-Grandmother.

What audience members have said…

‘I laughed one minute and cried the next’

‘Thank you for speaking the truth of the challenges of motherhood – with love, compassion and wisdom, so eloquently and beautifully.’

‘Moving, compassionate, heart-warming and provoking. I left with the feeling that the entire audience had been on the same journey with me.’
