Our House – The Madness Musical

Billericay Operatic Society presents

Our House – The Madness Musical

A London Love Story

Revolving around the music of the legendary ska band, Madness, Our House is a very British musical.
Set in Camden Town, this hilarious and heart-warming musical tells the story of London lad Joe Casey, who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah – the girl of his dreams – out on their first date. In an effort to impress her with his bravado, Joe breaks into a building site overlooking his home on Casey Street to show Sarah the view over north London. When the police arrive, Joes faces an agonising decision – run, or stay and face the consequences. Joe’s life splits in two and we witness the fortunes, and misfortunes of Good Joe and Bad Joe. Two parallel stories unfold and build towards an explosive climax.

Featuring all your favourite Madness hits including House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving In My Car, It Must Be Love, Night Boat to Cairo and of course Our House, this toe-tapping show will have you dancing in the aisles and is a great show to share with friends.

Our House by Tim Firth has music and lyrics by Madness and was the winner of the 2003 Olivier award for Best New Musical and has since gone on to tour both nationally and internationally to great acclaim. Through the music of Madness, writer Tim Firth explores the themes of love, family values, growing up, responsibility and dealing with losing the people that shape us.

OUR HOUSE was first produced at the Cambridge Theatre, London on 28th October 2002. Producers were Tiger Aspect Productions, Rupert Lord, Andre Ptaszynski and Phil McIntyre in association with Madness. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International
