The story follows Lucius (Paul Mescal), nephew of the fallen Emperor Commodus, who witnessed Maximus’s sacrifice in the Colosseum. To protect him from Rome’s corruption, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) sent him to Numidia. However, when General Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal) invades, Lucius is captured and forced back to the gladiatorial arena.

Acclaimed director Ridley Scott returns, promising the same epic scale that made the original a classic. With fierce battles and political intrigue, Gladiator II is set to honour its predecessor while carving out its own place in cinematic history.

Based on the 2016 novel by Robert Harris, Conclave is a 2024 mystery thriller directed by Edward Berger, and tells the story of one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting the new Pope.

After the unexpected death of the Pope, Cardinal-Dean Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is forced to put aside any grief and is tasked with putting together a conclave and running the covert process of selecting a new Pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Fiennes) gathers the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders from around the world, including the US candidate Bellini (Stanley Tucci), Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto), a more traditional Italian. A more powerful American, Tremblay (John Lithgow), the increasingly popular Nigerian Adeyemi (Lucian Msamati) and the mysterious contender Benitez (Carlos Diehz), who has been working in Kabul. However, once they are all locked together in the halls of the Vatican, Lawrence (Fiennes) uncovers a trail of deep secrets which could shake the foundations of the Roman Catholic Church.

Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his co-worker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

This production is part of the Brentwood Arts Festival.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International.
