Brentwood Theatre is a lively studio theatre in the heart of Brentwood with activities and events taking place almost every day. Our volunteer Front of House Ushers are at the heart of our community and we’d love you to share your passion with us. Volunteer Front of House Usher Role Description
The main qualities we look for with our volunteers is passion, whether for theatre or community, and a willingness to learn and experience new things.
The role involves meeting and greeting our audiences, scanning tickets, showing audience members to their seats, maintaining theatre etiquette during performances, helping with the safe evacuation of the building if necessary and ensuring the auditorium is clean and clear ready for the next performance or event. You may also be asked to sell refreshments during intervals.
We will provide full training for the role including:
- Training on tablets and ticket scanning apps
- Relevant required training in theatre procedures and health and safety
- Customer service training
By volunteering with us you will get the opportunity to develop new skills in IT (use of tablets and applications), customer service, how to work as part of a team, how to work well under pressure and gain an understanding of working at a theatre.
As a Volunteer Front of House Usher you will get to sit in and watch the show your session covers for free, and as a thank you to the dedication of our volunteers, we also offer the following benefits:
- Free hot drinks from our Café Bar one hour before/after your session
- 30% off other food and drink one hour before/after your session
- 25% discount off all Café Bar purchases at any other time
- Special discounts on Brentwood Theatre shows for volunteers
Front of House Ushers would need to be in attendance for the entirety of an event with a typical session lasting 3-4 hours starting and finishing 30 minutes before and after an event. You should be able to give a minimum of 1 session per month.
We accept volunteers from age 16+
Please note that volunteers will be required to provide 2 references (not family members).
