The Wedding Singer

Its time to party like its 1985! Based upon the hit Adam Sandler movie, the Billericay Operatic Society is heading back to the 1980s with The Wedding Singer.

Rock start wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own wedding plans crumble and his rock chick fiancée Linda leaves him standing at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie turns every wedding he performs at into a catastophe until Julia – a waitress dreaming of her own perfect wedding – hits the scene. There is just one big problem – Julia is already engaged to the loathsome Glen Guglia, a shallow, obnoxious Wall Street broker who only cares about the dollar. When Julia elopes with Glen to Las Vegas Robbie decide to play the gig of his life in an attempt to win her heart.

The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big and greed was good.  This rocking feel good rom-com is packed full of hilarious and heartfelt music.

Brentwood School Presents

small

A compassionate and probing exploration of youth and ageing, nostalgia and regret, and the dangers of refusing to get old.

All children grow up, but what if they could grow back down again? A new medical process is being attempted, and it’s got an extraordinary aim: attempting to ‘de-age’ its volunteers back into young children.

The scientists don’t know if it’ll work. The doctors aren’t sure if it should. And the friends and families of those undergoing the risky procedure can’t understand why anybody would willingly do this in the first place… Why would you want to be small again?

An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

Running Time: 80 minutes including interval.

Content guidance: This play contains strong language and sexually explicit language, as well as exploration of adult themes including death, suicide, depression and neglect.

Wicked Little Letters (Film – Monday Matinee)

A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women — led by Police Officer Gladys Moss — begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.
